It is a new week in the future year of 2024, and culinary wonders abound in the city of Minot. One cannot gaze upon the marquees of the local victuallers without being transfixed by thoughts of the delicacies that await the intrepid gourmand.
At the establishment styled “Magic City Hoagies”, the ominously-named “Bacon Ranch Chipotle Chicken Melt” beckons with its chipotle-imbued slices of fowl accompanied by the smoky embrace of crisp bacon and molten cheese. Exotic spices and cooling ranch mingle to create a taste paradox worthy of our gastronomic age.
Not to be outdone, the purveyors of “Off The Vine” proffer their “Smokey Mountain Bacon Dip” – a decadent affair of habanero jam, caramelized onions, and creams both solid and soft. For the sweet-toothed venture-seeker, they also unveil the curiously-dubbed “Hawaiian” – roasted pineapple and sausage united with cheese in what can only be described as a tropical sweet-and-savory phantasmagoria.
If those indulgences do not sate one’s appetite for the novel, this “Earth Day” also presents opportunities to sample black licorice and “Blue Moon” ice creams. Perhaps an amber-hued draft and a jelly bean or two could provide fitting atmospheric accompaniment to such fanciful confections?
