Frontier Military Days

Saturday, June 22nd — Sunday, June 23rd

Step back in time at Fort Stevenson State Park Frontier Military Days, June 22nd and 23rd on the Guardhouse Interpretive Center lawn. Open 12:00PM to 4:00PM both days of the event.

Visitors can experience what life was like at an 1870’s military fort.

The military encampment features authentic tents and gear, living history demonstrations of tomahawk throwing, trader tent and black powder gun demonstrations. Skills and crafts of the Indian Wars period on display.

Witness the cannon firing at noon and 3:30 pm each day.

Fort Stevenson Frontier Military Days is sponsored by the Fort Stevenson Foundation, a volunteer organization that sponsored reconstruction of the original fort’s guardhouse. The Guardhouse Interpretive Center houses displays and artifacts about military life in the Dakota Territory. Make time to visit and tour the Guardhouse Interpretive Center.

Event admission is free. The park charges a $7 vehicle entrance fee unless a State Park Annual Pass is displayed.
